ODIM to Build New Design and Manufacturing Facility in Peterborough
PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO - February 04, 2010 – ODIM Inc., a successful group of Canadian companies that designs and produces custom equipment and systems for the civil nuclear industry and the global defence and marine sector, today announced plans to construct a 103,000 sq. ft. facility in Peterborough.
The new building is expected to be ready for move-in by the end of 2010. The company is acquiring a 9-acre site from the City of Peterborough at Major Bennett Industrial Park to host the new plant, and intends to sell its existing Peterborough properties on The Queensway and Neal Drive.
“We’re excited to be underway with a spacious, modern facility that will serve as our corporate headquarters and consolidate the engineering, design, R&D and production requirements for both our ODIM Spectrum and ODIM Numet divisions,” said Andrew Roy, President of ODIM Inc. “Despite the current economic environment, we’re pleased to be coming off another positive year at both of our Peterborough companies. With each needing to expand to meet growth demands, the logical move is to establish one modern facility that will accommodate our combined staff of over 200.”
ODIM has engaged Cornerstone Builders Ltd. on the project. “We’ve worked with Cornerstone in the past, and they’re a very reputable construction firm. I think it will be one of the finest looking industrial properties in the area,” says Roy. “The facility will provide a more modern and spacious workplace to enable us to better serve our clients, which includes a “who’s who” of international power generation and defence industry corporations.
“We continue to increase share in our respective markets thanks to our talented team of employees. With several recent large and challenging project wins, we continue to be on the lookout for skilled engineering, design and project management staff,” added Roy.
