ODIM Spectrum Receives Contract Award from US Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC)
ODIM Spectrum is pleased to announce a contract award from the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, Florida for the development of an Organic Reeling Cable Assembly (ORCA). This is a two-year development contract to design and build two prototype systems, and our expertise in specialized naval cable handling systems was key to winning this competitive contract.
ORCA will be used on the US Navy`s new Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) in support of mine countermeasure activities. The system is used to load and unload a range of different cables to and from CSTRS winches aboard USN helicopters, and handle other LCS mine warfare system cables. The illustration below depicts the ORCA system loading (or unloading) cable onto an ODIM-designed CSTRS winch aboard an MH-60S helicopter.
