HISTORY / FACILITIES
The company originated from Spectrum Engineering, a Canadian firm established in 1971. In 1983 the "Ocean Systems Group" was formed within Spectrum to provide engineering support for the Canadian Navy's surface ship towed sonar systems. From this modest beginning Ocean Systems grew rapidly in the '90s, expanding its capabilities to develop a number of unique product solutions for an impressive array of international clients.
In 1997 a new chapter began when Spectrum Engineering was acquired by the ODIM ASA, a publicly traded Norwegian Company
(www.odim.no). ODIM ASA is a fast-expanding Norwegian technology company that develops and sells advanced automated handling solutions, primarily cable or fibre rope handling systems and winches for use on offshore vessels and platforms.
ODIM Spectrum offers "end-to-end" naval and oceanographic handling system solutions. This total system capability encompasses a range of winches, overboarding equipment, fairlead mechanisms, faired tow cable systems, towed sonar bodies and other marine equipment and services.
In addition, the Companys nuclear plant services group has been supporting Canadas power generation industry for more than 30 years.
Approximately 75% of our staff are comprised of professional engineers, designers and technologists with practical experience in mechanical, electrical, hydrodynamic and hydraulic disciplines. ODIM Spectrum enjoys a reputation for arriving at fast, creative and low-cost solutions to challenging requirements.
